09/22/07 - Three words. Rickson Gracie's comeback. Need I say more? Not for the hardcore fight fan. FEG Executive Producer Tanigawa announced Rickson Gracie's intent to fight on the FEG webpage, and Rickson himself confirmed this at the HERO'S Sept. 16 press conference. This was unusual because Gracie's main reason for being in Japan was to corner his student Kevin Casey, who lost his MMA debut against PRIDE veteran Ikuhisa Minowa. “I’d like to fight forever, but I don’t think that’s possible. But at least one more good fight I have inside of me. And I hope this will happen soon,” said Gracie during the HERO'S event intermission. There are several possible opponents for Rickson. One of them is Kazushi Sakuraba, the famed "Gracie Hunter" who challenged Rickson after winning his fight that night. Pancrase founder Masakatsu Funaki was also announced to mount a comeback, possibly against either Gracie or Sakuraba. Also rumored for a Rickson bout is Judo Olympic Gold Medalist Hedehiko Yoshida. If the bout comes to fruition, it will likely be on New Year’s Eve, traditionally one of Japanese television’s biggest nights of the year in the ratings war. The 47-year-old Gracie Jiu-Jitsu legend is undefeated in Mixed Martial Arts with a perfect record of 11-0-0.
